This vintage original poster was created by the artist James H. Daughtery and issued by the United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation in 1918.   For this poster Daughtery renders an image of a screeching eagle descending on a scene of American ships leaving port and sailing toward a sun rising on the distance horizon.  The image suggests the easterly movement of the ships at the break of a new day. Easterly toward the beleaguered allies and warfronts of Europe underscoring the title poster’s title - The Ships Are Coming.  The Emergency Fleet Corporation was established by the United States Shipping Board in April 1917 to acquire, maintain, and operate merchant ships in the interest of national defense during World War I.

This vintage original poster looks pretty well unused with no tape or pinholes and only slight handling wear.  Overall condition is excellent.
