This charming Mid-Century travel poster promoting Norway as a skiing and winter sports travel destination was created by the artist Inger Skjensvold Sorensen and issued by Norway’s official state travel authority in 1956. For this poster Sorensen renders an image of a large gloved hand holding a snowball within which we see carefree skiers recreating and enjoying the wonderful skiing opportunities available in Norway. At least a couple different variations of this poster exist. This poster is the English language version imprinted “Norwegian State Railways” in the lower right corner while other variations are imprinted with name SAS Airlines. The bottom center edge is printed “PRINTED IN NORWAY 1956 – OFFSET BY GRØNDAHL & SON – SECOND EDITION”.
This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen and was in very good condition with just minor edge wear, a single pinhole on each corner and a short one inch tear without paper loss on the right edge all expertly repaired. Overall condition is very good.
