This vintage original poster was created by the artist Red Gates and issued by the Colorado State Government Winter Sports Committee in the late 1950s or 1960s.  Gates, who created at least one other official state poster promoting Colorado as a ski destination, renders a delightful and colorful Mid-Century Modern design.  This poster isn’t dated but probably dates to the late 1950s or early 1960s.  Gates name appears signed in print in the image and the bottom of the poster is printed with a copyright by the Colorado Winter Sports Committee Capitol Building Denver.   

This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen.   A long tear of about 12 inches at the bottom of the poster without loss of paper has been expertly repaired during the linen backing process as have pinholes on the corners.  Two short tears on the right edge and one short tear on the top edge, all of about an inch and all without paper loss, have also been expertly repaired.   The original colors are retained the poster displays beautifully and makes a striking impression.  Overall condition is very good.
