This is an original antique c.1918 broadside issued in support of women’s suffrage.  This broadside is printed one side only on a newsprint type paper.   The lower margin has an Allied Printing Trades Council New York City union emblem and indicates this broadside was issued by the National Woman Suffrage Publishing Co., Inc. of New York.  Text on the broadside reads:

The Kaiser opposes woman suffrage.  WOODROW WILSON And THEODORE ROOSEVELT favor woman suffrage.   WITH WHICH DO YOU STAND?  VOTE FOR CANDIDATES FOR THE LEGISLATURE WHO STAND FOR WOMAN SUFFRAGE.

We have not been able to locate another copy of this broadside but we do find the same text used on the broadside appearing in newspapers between August and October 1918. On September 30, 1918 President Woodrow Wilson made a brief but impassioned speech to the United States Senate in support of women’s suffrage and passage of the 19th Amendment.   Prior to that speech Wilson had been indifferent at best to the issue although in the months leading up to Wilson’s 1918 Senate speech he had made some comments to signal his evolution on the subject and growing support for the cause.  It therefore seems likely that this undated broadside was issued in the leadup to the 1918 midterm elections, probably in New York state.

This original antique and rare Women's Suffrage broadside shows some toning from age, light handling wear and a single tack hole on each corner.  Overall condition is very good.
