This poster was created for the Navy Department Incentive Division by the artist John Falter. A craggy faced Admiral William Halsey exudes confidence as he drops his binoculars to get a good look at something surrounded by vignettes of battle scenes titled Hit Hard!, Hit Fast! and Hit Often! above the bold tag line Produce for your Navy – VICTORY BEGINS AT HOME. This poster would have been used mostly in factories to motivate wartime workers on the Home Front. Admiral Halsey commanded the Third Fleet in the Pacific during WWII and was one of only three men to rise to the rank of Fleet Admiral, the U.S. Navy’s highest rank.

The lower margin indicates “Einson-Freeman Co., Inc. L.I. City, N.Y.” and “Incentive Division, Navy Department – OC-4-35M”. This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen and is in very good condition overall with just minor touchup including about a half inch of expertly replaced loss on the upper right corner trip.  The original colors are well retained and overall condition is very good.
