This rare vintage original poster was created by well-known Finnish-American comic book artist Paul Gustavson and issued by the War Activities Committee of the Motion Picture Industry to support the 5th War Loan Drive which ran from June 12 to July 8, 1944. This is a large poster measuring 60” x 40”. Gustavson’s comic book style artwork features a rifle toting American soldier walking in lockstep with civilians, all clutching war bonds, with text that reads Moviegoers! Join the Fighting Fifth – Fight by his side! Invest in Invasion – Buy MORE BONDS than Before 5th WAR LOAN. The lower margin indicates “Distributed and Exhibited Under Auspices of the War Activities Committee, Motion Picture Industry – in cooperation with the War Finance Committee United States Treasury.”

The War Activities Committee of the Motion Picture Industry produced short propaganda films, organized war bond drives at movie theaters and helped to make movie stars available for various campaigns in support of the war effort.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and looks unused. The poster is fully complete and intact with some toning from age and light handling wear. This poster was issued folded and ships that way. Overall condition is excellent.
